This past weekend, TaiOne Trading hosted a few events in Metro Vancouver to showcase some of their finest imported exotic fruits. The first event was held at Fresh Street Market in West Vancouver followed by one at Foody World in Richmond. The events included fresh fruits sampling, giveaways, a live cooking show and fresh cold pressed juices.
One of the featured fruits was the “Mibao” Red Dragon Fruit – Taiwan’s world patented breed of dragon fruit. Under the red leathery skin is a tasty, vibrant red, and juicy flesh. It has the health benefit of being rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C. The taste and texture of Mibao has been likened to a combination of pear and kiwi.
Also featured was the The Taiwan Pearl Guava – a sweet fruit with thin and edible outer skin. The flesh of the fruit itself is thick, crunchy and has a refreshing taste. Compared to an orange, the guava has 4 times more Vitamin C. Furthermore, it has 10 times more Vitamin A than a lime.
The guava juice that I tried was wonderfully refreshing!
Last but not least was the Ching-Huang Mango also nicknamed the “King of Mangos.” This mango breed was created through the efforts of mango farmers and modern technology and boasts an impressive size. Its taste is sweet but has a firmer flesh compared to other mango breeds.
